You are cordially invited to participate in a media conference call with National Baseball Hall of Famers Gaylord Perry and John Smoltz plus MLB Network analyst Kevin Millar on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 11:30 a.m. ET in anticipation of the BWAA announcement next week about who is in the Cooperstown Class of 2017.  There is considerable controversy surrounding this year’s vote with growing sentiment around the possible inclusion of steroid-era players who have been snubbed for years.SMOLTZ GOLF 1.jpg

Perry, who won Cy Young Awards in both leagues, was inducted into Cooperstown in 1991 but had to wait well beyond the five-year eligibility period, having retired in 1983. Smoltz, the former Atlanta Braves Cy Young Award winner and World Series star, made it in his first year of eligibility two summers ago. Millar was a standout player for four teams and a key contributor to the Boston Red Sox 2004 World Series Championship. Smoltz is also an MLB Network Analyst and the lead analyst for Fox Sports’ coverage of Major League Baseball. millar
