Westchester, New York – In what has become an annual tradition and much-anticipated by social service organizations, Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway ‎president & CEO Timothy J. Rooney will present the hundreds of new toys and gently used coats collected in the Empire City’s 10th Annual “Christmas Spirit” Toy and Coat Drive. The donated items will be presented to Catholic Charities organizations on Thursday, December 15, at 10:30 AM at the valet entrance of the casino.  Donations will be accepted by the Catholic Charities executive director Monsignor Kevin Sullivan, and others providing social services to families in need.

Nearly 10 percent of the county population is living in poverty. Thirty-one percent of that population is under the age of seventeen.

Elected officials including  Yonkers Mayor Spano will participate

For the 10th consecutive year, Empire City Casino and Catholic Charities are teaming up to make the holiday season warmer and happier for New York families in need. The “Christmas Spirit” Toy and Coat Drive began November 1st and generous donors have given over 600 toys and hundreds of coats. The items will be delivered to Catholic Charities-supported agencies for the Christmas Holidays. The Toy and Coat Drive has become a holiday tradition at Empire City Casino, and thousands of toys and coats have been donated since 2007 when the campaign was launched.

Media coverage welcomed and  appreciated

Josh Blake, President of California-based and family-owned company, The Gander Group, is bringing some West Coast warmth to New York families in need by donating hundreds of toys to the annual drive, and John Lennon, owner of Yonkers-based Smart Move & Storage, will again generously donate services to transport and store of all donations while they are distributed by local community organizations.
