Still basking in the afterglow of the whirlwind, four-week journey to the Featherweight Championship with Ireland’s Carl Frampton, a spectacular performance which culminated in his historic victory over Leo Santa Cruz last Saturday, perfectly orchestrated by manager Barry McGuigan and trainer Shane McGuigan, the “All-IRISH-all-the-time ‘ride’” surprisingly continued on Thursday.
Bill Gallo Jr., National Steeplechase Association Director of Racing, introduced us to two standout Irish riders. William McCarthy, who won with Dr. Skip in a $70,000 handicap on Wednesday, and Jack Doyle, victorious aboard Bob Le Beau in the $125,000 Smithwick Memorial on Thursday in Steeplechase races at Saratoga Racecourse.
The duo posed for photos on a glorious sunny day, and both were delighted to hear the inside scoop on the epic Frampton title win.
To cap off the trip later on Friday, by chance ran into DiBella Entertainment ace publicist Kevin Rooney, and we shared a victory toast at the Post Time bar. Wish my luck at the windows was this good!
