$130,000 Colt Humboldt Heads Sheppard Pace Saturday Night at Yonkers Raceway

Yonkers, NY-The $100,000 Lawrence B. Sheppard Pace at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday night is the premier event for freshman colts and geldings at Empire City Casino’s historic half mile oval, and is carded as the sixth race on the evening’s program.

Humboldt, driven by Mark MacDonald from post position three, was a $130,000 purchase. The son of  American Ideal cost more than the rest of his rivals put together.

Humboldt makes his parimutuel debut for owner Brixton Medical and trainer Jimmy Takter. He’s partnered in the wagering with Southwind Diablo with George Brennan handling the reins from post one.

Summer Side (Ray Schnittker, post six) was a solid second in a Pennsylvania Sire Stake event, while Chip Walther (Jason Bartlett, post five) won a Landmark event at Goshen. The latter is coupled with Rollin’ About (Brent Holland, post two).
